Last month the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots (I.O.M.M.P.) formed a Women’s Caucus to effect change to assure equal rights, respect and safety for all mariners and workers in the maritime industry. MM&P will advocate for and actively support women’s rights, professional development, networking and the discussion of all issues specific to women in the maritime, including cisgender and transgender women, femmes, and nonbinary people within MM&P and throughout the maritime industry. In addition, membership in the MM&P Women’s Caucus is free and open to all members and delegates, limited initially to women, including cisgender and transgender women, femmes, and nonbinary people within MM&P. The Women’s Caucus and MM&P are also developing a warmline as a peer-support and referral resource.
